Legal Assistant – Construction Defect Litigation
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Legal Assistant to join our growing construction defect litigation team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and takes pride in supporting attorneys through all stages of complex civil matters.
Our firm represents homeowners and property owners in construction defect claims involving water intrusion, structural failures, workmanship deficiencies, and related building issues. The Legal Assistant plays a key role in keeping cases organized, on track, and moving forward efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct litigation and administrative support to attorneys handling construction defect matters
- Draft, format, and file pleadings, motions, discovery, notices, and legal correspondence
- Manage court filings, including e-filing in state and/or federal courts
- Maintain and organize electronic case files and document management systems
- Calendar deadlines, hearings, depositions, inspections, mediations, and trial dates
- Coordinate service of process and communications with courts and opposing counsel
- Assist with discovery, including organizing large document productions and tracking deadlines
- Prepare case materials for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial
- Organize and review construction-related documents such as contracts, inspection reports, repair estimates, expert reports, and photographs
- Communicate professionally with clients, experts, contractors, and court personnel
Qualifications
Required:
- Prior experience as a Legal Assistant in civil litigation
- Strong understanding of litigation procedures and court rules
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience in construction defect, construction litigation, or real estate litigation
- Familiarity with construction terminology and common building defect issues
- Experience handling large volumes of technical documentation
