I’ve partnered with a well-established personal injury law firm in Plantation that’s hiring a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to support their tobacco litigation department. Key Responsibilities
• Open and manage new legal files with a high level of accuracy and organization
• Prepare, scan, and maintain pleadings, authorizations, and case documentation
• Request, track, and organize medical records, insurance information, and billing statements
• Draft and send correspondence on behalf of attorneys and paralegals
• Maintain detailed and structured client file systems
• Assist with claims reporting, insurance follow-up, and document retrieval
• Prepare deposition summaries
• Create chronologies from medical records
• Assist with certain filings and ensure proper document handling
• Save pleadings to the appropriate files and maintain organization within the system
• Support the collection of medical bills and liens
• Handle high-volume scheduling and calendar management for attorneys
• Scan and upload daily mail into the case management system (ATO)
• Provide back-office administrative and litigation support across teams
• Coordinate with medical providers, insurance carriers, and internal stakeholders
Qualifications
• 5+ years of legal assistant/paralegal experience (litigation experience strongly preferred)
• Experience within personal injury, medical records, or high-volume case environments is highly preferred
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
• High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and file management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative legal team
• Comfortable working within a structured, high-volume workflow
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus, but not required
