Meredith Law Firm, LLC an established bankruptcy law firm with offices serving the Charleston, Columbia and Myrtle Beach areas seeks a talented, highly motivated Full Time Legal Assistant in our downtown Columbia office. Potential candidates must enjoy working in a fast paced, team-oriented environment with seasoned staff members and attorneys. Previous bankruptcy experience is not required; necessary training will be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
• Point of contact for your assigned client(s)
• Keep up-to-date records on any changes to client and court requirements
• Draft variety of court filings including Proof of Claim, motions, objections, notices accurately and error free
• Must be able to read and interpret payment and financial records
• Maintain timely and accurate communications with clients and attorneys
• Ability to manage time and independently problem solve
• Answer phones and assisting with general office duties (including but not limited to faxing, emailing, copying, drafting correspondences, ordering office supplies, maintaining office equipment, etc.), and calendar management.
Requirements:
• Previous experience as a legal secretary, legal assistant or paralegal is strongly preferred
• Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task as a self-starter
• Adaptable and quick to learn and work with a sense of urgency
• Must be able to meet strict deadlines
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work with different personalities and feel comfortable relaying messages between clients and attorneys
• Reliable attendance is required.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Best Case, Outlook, G-Mail, Google Documents is Preferred
