Cusack Linscott Merck is a boutique law firm in Coeur d'Alene focused on estate planning, probate, and guardianship and conservatorship matters, with additional work in corporate and real estate law. We are hiring a full-time legal assistant to support our attorneys and paralegal team and to serve as the first point of contact for our clients. This is a strong entry-level opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in the legal field with mentorship and meaningful responsibility from the start.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients, answer phones, and manage scheduling for attorney consultations and signing appointments.
- Open new client matters, gather intake information, and route inquiries appropriately.
- Assist attorneys and senior paralegal with document preparation, scanning, filing, and mailing across estate planning, probate, and guardianship and conservatorship matters.
- Coordinate client signings, including notarization and witnessing.
- Maintain organized physical and electronic files; assist with data entry into our practice management system.
- Support general office operations — supplies, mail, document delivery, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate degree, paralegal certificate, or related coursework is a plus.
- Prior office, customer service, or law firm experience preferred but not required. Recent graduates of paralegal programs are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; warm, professional demeanor with clients.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn legal terminology and procedures.
- Comfort with Microsoft Office and general office technology. We will train you on our practice management and document automation systems.
