About the Position


Our client is seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of advanced HVAC and control systems across commercial, industrial, and data center applications. This role offers the opportunity to work on highly engineered systems including air handling equipment, cooling infrastructure, and integrated building controls used in some of the most demanding environments.


As part of the engineering team, you will contribute to both new product development and project-specific custom solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver efficient, reliable, and scalable systems.


Key Responsibilities


  • Design and develop standard and custom HVAC and air handling solutions, including schematic drawings, component selection, and technical documentation
  • Program and maintain control systems for complex HVAC and heat transfer applications
  • Develop control strategies and interfaces for electrical systems including motors, fans, VFDs, sensors, and related components
  • Support engineering efforts for commercial, industrial, and data center cooling systems
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, design optimization, and lean manufacturing efforts
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and project teams to improve design efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
  • Prepare and present technical documentation for internal teams, customers, and stakeholders


Skills & Qualifications


  • Strong understanding of control systems theory and practical application
  • Experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and control graphics
  • Hands-on knowledge of sensors, actuators, VFDs, and industrial communication protocols
  • Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) and integration methods
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented and quality-focused mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in HVAC system design, particularly in commercial, industrial, or data center environments
  • Exposure to chilled water systems, air handlers, CRAC/CRAH units, or similar cooling technologies
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical controls or HVAC controls engineering
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or engineered-to-order product environments
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer
