Lead Business Planner (Marketplace Accounts):

Our client is seeking a Lead Business Planner to drive strategic planning and financial performance across key marketplace accounts. This individual will play a critical role in shaping demand, optimizing inventory, and delivering data-driven insights that support profitable growth. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of retail metrics, consumer behavior, and market dynamics, along with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and translate insights into action.


This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.


Lead Business Planner Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of multi-season financial and merchandise plans, including sales, inventory, and receipts, to support business targets and consumer demand.
  • Translate market data, consumer insights, and performance trends into actionable strategies that inform forecasting and planning decisions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders to align on financial targets, inventory strategies, and business priorities.
  • Analyze retail and wholesale performance metrics (e.g., sales, inventory, margin, and sell-through) to identify risks, opportunities, and optimization strategies.
  • Build and maintain forecasting models that support both pre-season planning and in-season adjustments.
  • Communicate business performance, forecasts, and key decisions clearly to leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Lead seasonal planning reviews and business recaps, providing insights into performance drivers and future opportunities.
  • Evaluate trade-offs across demand, supply, and financial outcomes to drive balanced and profitable decisions.


Lead Business Planner Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in retail planning, merchandise planning, or product-related roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong understanding of retail and wholesale metrics, including sales, inventory, margin, and demand planning.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex data sets and translate insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Knowledge of consumer trends, competitive landscape, and the sports apparel and footwear market is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manipulate and model data effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and present insights clearly.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and drive business outcomes.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Prior experience within a large consumer brand or similar environment is highly preferred.
