Lead AI Engineer

$180,000-200,000 base salary + benefits
Harnham is partnered with a cutting-edge government contractor in the Pittsburgh area. They are looking for an AI Engineer with a strong background in building production-grade LLM / natural language platforms. This person will sit in their AI research team and partner across the business.
THE ROLE
- You will build machine learning and LLM platforms to support a brand new client portfolio in various government agencies
- You will report directly into the Head of ML Research and work closely on technical direction
- Own development of new platforms and help advance existing systems
- You will implement and design code and build out to production using various advanced machine learning techniques
- Have the opportunity to work closely with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a thought leader
- Help in mentoring a fast-growing team
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful AI Engineer will likely have the following skills and experience:
- MUST BE a US Citizen - potential for government clearance for future projects
- Experience using Python for machine learning and large language model development
- Commercial experience building novel AI platforms with large datasets preferred
- Familiarity with advanced machine learning approaches a plus, i.e. deep learning
- Prior experience leading projects is a plus
- History of partnering with non-technical stakeholders, ideally in government spaces
- Spark experience a plus; cloud experience in AWS
- PhD/MS in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or other STEM field
