Title-Registered Nurse (RN) – Women’s Health & OB Services (LDRP)

Unit Overview

  • LDRP Beds: 12
  • Triage Rooms: 2
  • Operating Rooms: 2
  • NICU: 10-bed Level II
  • Average Census: 60–80 births/month


Position Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted


Patient Population

  • 32 weeks gestation and above
  • Primarily low-risk patients
  • Common conditions include:
  • Hypertension
  • Diabetes
  • Elevated BMI
  • Substance abuse (medication management)
  • Experience with:
  • Epidurals
  • Magnesium administration
  • Post-women’s surgical care (preferred)


Care Model & Ratios

  • 1:1 – Laboring patients
  • 1:2 – Active labor
  • 1:3 – Couplets
  • RN provides continuity of care from labor through postpartum and discharge


Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring

  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP)

  • On-call support:
  • OB/GYN
  • L&D Anesthesia
  • Day support:
  • Management team
  • Lactation consultant (meets all patients prior to discharge)
  • Phlebotomy available

  • IV Pumps: Alaris
  • Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
  • Monitoring System: QS Centricity


Scheduling & Shifts

  • Shift Options:Days: 06:45 AM – 07:15 PM
  • Nights: 06:45 PM – 07:15 AM
  • Weekend Rotation: Every 4th weekend
  • Holidays: Every other holiday
  • On-Call: Not required
  • Schedule Cycle: 6 weeks (released 2 weeks in advance)
  • RTO: Up to 7 days may be approved


Orientation

  • New Employee Orientation (NEO)
  • 1–2 days unit-specific orientation (based on experience/comfort level)
