Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Lab Assistant, you will play a crucial role in solving diagnostic mysteries, bringing us one step closer to effectively treating patient illnesses and injuries.

Every day you will utilize your expertise and our advanced technology to precisely collect, prepare, and process a diverse range of patient specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for various diagnostic tests.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a foundational understanding of laboratory procedures, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, and maintain an eager commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

  • The lab assistant must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care relative to the patient's age-specific needs.
  • Assist with specimen processing, including labeling, centrifuging, and aliquoting.
  • Prepare reagents and solutions according to established protocols.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Perform routine lab tasks such as washing glassware, sterilizing instruments, and preparing culture media.
  • Assist with data entry and record-keeping, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols.
  • This lab assistant will play a critical role in the Emergency Room schedule and will be required to work in the Emergency Room
Job Requirements

Required

  • High school graduate or GED
  • One (1) year of laboratory clerical and/or phlebotomy experience in an acute care facility
  • Must know medical terminology
  • Phlebotomy training must meet the needs of newborns through geriatric populations.
  • California Phlebotomy Technician License
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification
  • Fire Safety Card must obtain within 90 days from date of hire
