In this position you assist coworkers with tasks related to policy and fee or rate setting, with knowledge that will span both professional and facility services. You will assist with policy development, contracting, review and analysis, and monitoring of health care cost initiatives. This position is focused on consulting on projects to improve the utilization, cost and/or quality of medical services provided to Washington workers who are injured on the job.

Using your analytic skills, you will work in a team environment with professional staff, assess and solve problems, assist in the development of fee schedules, consult on projects, recommend technical and politically viable solutions as well as answer questions concerning department policy and fees.

The Insurance Services Health Services Analysis program is comprised of various work units with a shared vision to achieve provider excellence to reduce work disability by ensuring worker access to high quality care.

Some of what you will do:

  • Assist MPS2 co-workers on agency wide initiatives and projects. Aid in the preparation of project goals and scope.
  • Track and report progress of projects to provide briefings/updates to management and steering committees.
  • Organize and maintain project team membership, identify milestones, subtasks and assignments.
  • Develop payment policy and rates for a limited scope of Medical Aid Rules and Fee Schedules (MARFS).
  • Serve as a backup to MPS2 co-workers on policy and rate development.
  • Research other payers and track emerging trends at the state and federal level.
  • Gather and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform and help develop decision papers for L&I project teams.
  • Responsible to monitor and respond to emails for the HPPM email inbox. Draft and coordinate responses to stakeholders and customers about a wide variety of topic areas.
  • Draft and assist in developing communication strategies for L&I management and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify process, workflow or communication problems and develop solutions aimed at process improvement.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major study in public health, public administration, nursing, health administration, economics, mathematics, accounting, business administration, social sciences or closely allied field

AND

  • At least one year of consultative experience in analysis, research program coordination, or project management in a health care, medical insurance, social services, or workers’ compensation setting.

Two additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.

  • Masters’ degree with major study in public health, public administration, nursing, health administration, economics, mathematics, accounting, business administration, social sciences or allied field.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in analysis, research, program coordination, or project management in a health care or workers’ compensation setting.

This position is eligible for a flexible schedule (4/10’s, 9/80’s, 5/8’s, etc.) upon approval by management. For positions where in-office work is necessary, the frequency of telework will be discussed with the supervisor of the position at the time of offer.

For this position, you will be allowed to telework up to full time with the expectation of working from the office one day a month. In addition, you will be expected to work from the office to attend in-person meetings, training, upon business need. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, Washington.
