The Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technologist III conducts and analyses electroencephalography (EEG) and/or Evoked Potentials (EP) and/or Nerve Conductions (NCS), and Long-Term Monitoring (LTM)/Intensive Care Monitoring (ICU) and/or Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring (IOM) on all ages of patients. The Technologist conducts testing in the outpatient, inpatient hospital, or operating room environment, and documents results and reports findings to designated physicians.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Conduct EEG/LTM/ICU/EP/IOM and other neurodiagnostic testing or monitoring, appropriate to the patient's age, according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Customize the EEG/LTM/ICU/EP/IOM recording/stimulating parameters appropriately, as per referral evaluation, patient history or observed EEG/EP waveforms.
  • Initiate pre-surgical communications with the anesthesia team regarding anesthetic preference relative, to monitoring modality performed (for IOM).
  • Confirm with surgeon and document structures at risk and modalities to be monitored during procedures (for IOM).
  • Report and document pre-incision Intraoperative Neurophysiologic Monitoring (IOM) baseline and IOM closing waveform descriptions to the surgeon (for IOM).
  • Recognize, document and report critical tests results to the designated interpreting physician.
  • Differentiate artifacts from cerebral or peripheral nerve responses, and troubleshoot possible causes, documenting steps taken to alleviate such artifacts.
  • Ensure procedures are appropriately logged, charged and distributed to the interpreting physician.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide off shift coverage, including weekends and holidays, as required.


Qualifications

  • Required High School Diploma/GED
  • Required 2 years IOM (Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring) or LTM (Long Term Monitoring)
  • Required Registered Electroencephalogram Technologist (R. EEG T) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation and Certified Long Term Monitorist (CLTM) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation or Required Certified Intraoperative Monitorist (CNIM) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation
  • Required Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - American Heart Association
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred Certificate Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP)
  • Preferred 5 years END (Electroneurodiagnostics)
