JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Information Technology (IT) SCADA Applications team is responsible for maintaining real-time EMCS systems application, making sure all applications are active and performing as agreed in any relevant Service Level Agreements. The support extends to OT EMCS Systems such as Advanced Distribution Management, Generation Management, and Transmission/Energy Management, which are essential components of our operational framework.
This role will be responsible for Analyzing, developing, and implementing solutions for system enhancements and automations across end-to-end integrations for all OT EMCS systems. The role is expected to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Preferred qualifications for this role include knowledge of the GE Vernova product line used in Electrical Utilities, a background in scripting, DBA, or programming, as well as familiarity with Linux or Kubernetes. Participation in the team's 24-hour on-call rotation is also expected.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide EMCS operational support, ensuring production systems and devices are online and available; this includes non-business hours on-call support
· Provide and maintain real time EMCS systems application availability, ensuring that applications are active and operating as defined in any Service Level Agreements
· Provide support for OT EMCS Systems (Advanced Distribution Management, Generation Management, Transmission/Energy Management)
· Initiate vendor communication to address OT system issues
· Manage support for critical infrastructure systems, in accordance with Change Management policies and procedures
· Analyze, develop, and implement solutions for system enhancements & automations; Conduct a wide range of quality control tests and analysis to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements
· Provide an interface with software vendors for discussion, consultation, problem solving and best upgrade practices on the 3rd party systems
· Perform necessary investigation, analysis, and evaluation to determine project feasibility
· Develop procedures for the solution of complex and difficult problems or systems with a high level of reliability and execution speed
· Ensure the development of computer and information system plans that capitalize on the installed technology base and prudently employ new technology
· Provide project and vendor oversight and facilitate communications with other internal organizations including, but not limited to compliance, security, legal, and procurement
· Analyze user processes and requirements to identify potential improvements
· Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing
· Preferred knowledge of GE Vernova product line used for Electrical Utilities
· Preferred scripting, DBA or programming background
· Preferred Linux or Kubernetes knowledge
· Participate in the team 24 hour on-call rotation
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum experience and education required of the position:
IT Specialist I: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer Science, or related field and 0-2+ years of experience in utilities supporting IT/OT organization, or a related field is required OR in lieu of a degree 6+ years of experience in utilities supporting IT/OT organization, or a related field is required.
IT Specialist II: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of experience in utilities supporting IT/OT organization, or a related field is required OR in lieu of a degree 6+ years of experience in utilities supporting IT/OT organization, or a related field is required.
IT Specialist Sr.: Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of experience in utilities supporting IT/OT organization, or a related field is required OR in lieu of a degree 8+ years of experience in utilities supporting IT/OT organization, or a related field is required.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
· Knowledge of the utility industry and/or familiarity with general software development life cycle
· Proficiency with GE SCADA/ADMS products is a major plus.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Superior analytical, critical thinking and quantitative skills.
· Driven for results with a high sense of urgency.
· Ability to work independently, multi-task, & effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines.
· A self-starter with a positive attitude and ability to work in a rapidly changing environment is required for this role.
