Computer & Software Basics
- Comfortable using Windows 10/11 (files, folders, settings, basic troubleshooting like restarts and updates)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 apps as an end user — Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, Word, Excel
- Able to set up a workstation: monitors, docking station, keyboard/mouse, headset, printer connection
- Can connect a device to Wi-Fi, join a Teams meeting, and share a screen
Help Desk Fundamentals
- Comfortable taking a ticket, phone call, or walk-up request and working it to resolution or escalation
- Able to follow a written SOP or knowledge base article step-by-step
- Basic Active Directory / Entra ID tasks: password resets, account unlocks, checking group membership (with guidance)
- Documents what was done in the ticket — clear, factual notes
Networking & Hardware (Light)
- Understands the basics of how a network works — wired vs. wireless, what an IP address is, what DNS does at a high level
- Can identify common cables and ports (HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, Ethernet)
- Comfortable swapping hardware: replacing a monitor, keyboard, mouse, or docking station
- Willing to learn imaging, deployment, and basic troubleshooting workflows
Security Awareness
- Recognizes phishing and reports it instead of clicking
- Understands MFA and can help a user enroll in Microsoft Authenticator
- Knows not to share credentials and to lock the screen when away
- Respects confidentiality of user data, HR information, and executive communications
Communication & Professionalism
- Speaks and writes clearly with both technical and non-technical staff
- Patient with end users; doesn't talk down to them
- Comfortable asking questions early rather than guessing
- Reliable, on time, and follows through on assigned tasks
Education
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree, certificate, or coursework in IT, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- High school diploma or equivalent
Hands-On Experience (Personal, Academic, or Professional)
- 6+ months of general computer use beyond casual browsing — building, repairing, upgrading, or troubleshooting your own or others' devices counts
- Experience installing and configuring Windows 10/11 on a personal or lab machine
- Exposure to Microsoft 365 apps (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) as an end user
- Any experience helping family, friends, classmates, or coworkers resolve basic tech issues (password resets, printer setup, Wi-Fi problems, software installs)
Coursework or Lab Experience (any of the following)
- Intro to networking (CompTIA Network+ topics, Cisco NetAcad, or equivalent classwork)
- Intro to operating systems or PC hardware (CompTIA A+ topics or equivalent)
- Intro to cybersecurity fundamentals
- Hands-on lab work with virtual machines, Active Directory, or basic scripting
Customer Service / Communication Experience
- Any prior role involving direct interaction with customers, students, or the public — retail, food service, tutoring, front desk, call center, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to stay professional and patient under pressure

- Reliable transportation to the Fort Worth office
