Under direct supervision of the Youth Services Manager, learns to provide professional services in the Youth Services division of the library.
The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbent(s) in this position. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties in this description and incumbent(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description. Essential Job Functions:- Learns to assist in library program planning, development, implementation and evaluation.
- Learns to assist with customer service at the children's floor service desks.
- Learns to assist with the implementation of the Mayor's Summer Reading Challenge program.
Other Important Duties:- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- May be required to work extended hours on evenings and weekends.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
Required Knowledge and Skills:- Knowledge of library services, programs, research and resources specific to area of assignment.
- Knowledge of the educational, developmental, and interest levels of different populations served.
- Knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware and software.
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
- Skill in effective oral and written communications.
- Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.
Education, Experience, and Certifications:- Must be enrolled in an accredited college degree program in area of assignment.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
- May be required to possess State of Texas Driver's License.
