Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Faculty Non-Credit 1 level position. Starting salary range: $49,200.00 - $55,616.00/annually, depending upon experience.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Instructor, CDL is a full-time, benefited position responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the Trades & Technical Studies Pathway, Outreach & Workforce Development, and other related courses at the community college level. The instructor will teach both credit and non-credit CDL courses, catering to students with varied academic and career goals. Responsibilities include developing, revising, and delivering course materials aligned with college standards, assessing student performance, coordinating and executing truck maintenance, participating in promotional events, and providing academic support to help students succeed. The instructor must demonstrate a deep commitment to fostering student success through engagement in departmental activities, and staying current in the fields of teaching and CDL through professional development.

In addition to classroom teaching in varied environments, the CDL Instructor will actively participate in student engagement activities such as recruitment, on-campus events and activities, and academic support initiatives. The Instructor will contribute to the continuous improvement of the institution by collaborating with colleagues across the College on curriculum development, program assessment, community building, and student success strategies.
The instructor role also involves institutional service, including participation on committees, involvement in accreditation processes, and collaboration on departmental projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:– this position isexemptandis noteligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and workplace terminology.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be instances of somewhat loud environments.
  • An employee must be able to transition between stationary tasks and activities to frequent movement activities quickly and as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Highschool Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Three years of Class A CDL experience. Note, this experiencecan include military driving experience, but candidates must provide a copy of SF 171 listing all certifications.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL License, which reflects a “Commercial Status” of “Licensed” on applicant’s MVR, and be able to be insured by the College’s insurance provider
  • Licensed and able to operate a manual 9, 10 or 13 speed manual transmission
  • Must provide a current US DOT Medical Certificate provided by a registered medical examiner who is registered in the FMCSA Clearinghouse system
  • Individual must agree to be registered in the FMCSA Clearinghouse system
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check and able to participate in random drug screening program as required by FMCSA
  • Applicant must certify that they were never disqualified from operating a commercial vehicle based on Title 49 - Subtitle B - Chapter III - Subchapter B - Part 383 - Table 1 to 383.51
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Management, Transportation, Logistics, or a closely related field
  • Two years of instructional experience in a CDL training program or equivalent
  • Possession of or willingness to obtain the following endorsements: Hazardous Materials, Double/Triples
  • Possession of or willingness to obtain a Tanker endorsement.
  • Willingness to obtain certification as a Wyoming third-party examiner
  • Experience in both local and over-the-road driving
  • Experience and proficiency in coordinating and prioritizing student test schedules
