Instructional Lead                    


Position Overview

The Instructional Lead is a leadership role responsible for delivering high-quality evidence-based services while providing instructional leadership. This position bridges clinical and educational programming by supporting individualized learning, implementing behavior intervention plans, and mentoring staff. The Instructional Lead plays a critical role in maintaining treatment fidelity, promoting learner progress, and fostering a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment. This individual serves as a model for professionalism, collaboration, and ethical practice across all settings.


Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
  • Provides individualized support based on each child’s needs
  • Uses evidence-based strategies to support skill development
  • Focuses on communication, social, and daily living skills
  • Creates structured and supportive learning environments
  • Uses positive reinforcement to encourage growth and independence
  • Collaborates with families to support progress across settings
  • Monitors progress through ongoing data collection and review
  • Promotes independence and meaningful participation in daily activities
  • Supports learners across a variety of settings (clinic, school, community)
  • Emphasizes consistency and generalization of skills
  • Builds strong relationships to support engagement and trust
Instructional Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and adapt lesson plans aligned with individualized needs
  • Deliver instruction across academic, functional, and social domains
  • Create a structured and inclusive environment
  • Implement behavior management strategies consistent with evidence-based principles
  • Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on data and performance
  • Maintain accurate educational records including attendance, progress, and reports
  • Ensure safety and well-being of learners
Leadership & Team Development
  • Serve as a peer leader and mentor to staff
  • Model best practices in evidence-based implementation and classroom instruction
  • Provide informal coaching, feedback, and support to promote staff competency
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new staff
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture
  • Communicate team needs and concerns to leadership
Collaboration & Communication
  • Collaborate with BCBAs, educators, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Communicate professionally with families regarding student progress
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision sessions, and professional development
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, and organizational policies
Administrative & Operational Duties
  • Assist with preparation of instructional and clinical materials
  • Support daily operations, transitions, and scheduling
  • Contribute to documentation and compliance requirements
  • Assist with opening/closing procedures and general center operations as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field
  • Experience working with children in education, or related field
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
  • Valid Iowa teaching license
  • Experience in special education or ABA-based school settings
  • Leadership, mentorship, or training experience
  • Familiarity with data collection systems
  • Knowledge of evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit on the floor, and move throughout the day
  • Ability to lift, assist, or support students as needed (up to 50 lbs)
  • Ability to implement crisis intervention procedures if trained


Work Environment
  • Clinical setting serving students with diverse learning needs
  • Fast-paced, highly interactive environment requiring flexibility and adaptability
  • Requires emotional regulation, problem-solving, and a sense of humor


Supervision & Professional Expectations
  • Receive ongoing supervision from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Participate in required training, supervision, and professional development
  • Maintain all required certifications (CPR, mandated reporting, etc.)
  • Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines established by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
