Inside Sales Representative – Lentiviral Vector CDMO Location: Remote/Hybrid in Gaithersburg, MD
Reports To: Senior Director, Business Development
About the Role
We’re an early-stage, fast-growing CDMO focused on lentiviral vector development and manufacturing for cell and gene therapy programs. As our Inside Sales Representative, you’ll be a key commercial hire responsible for owning early customer engagement, qualifying opportunities, and helping build our commercial foundation.
What You’ll Do
Own the Front End of the Sales Funnel
· Be the first point of contact for inbound leads from our website, conferences, and campaigns
· Proactively reach out to early-stage biotech, academic spinouts, and emerging cell therapy companies
· Qualify opportunities by understanding:
· Lentiviral vector needs and intended application (e.g., CAR‑T, TCR, HSC)
· Program stage (research, IND‑enabling, early clinical)
· Approximate scale, timelines, and funding status
· Track and manage all leads in HubSpot, keeping data clean and usable as we scale and support quoting/opportunity tracking in NetSuite
Support Deals from First Call to Hand‑Off
· Work closely with the BD lead to advance qualified opportunities
· Help translate early scientific conversations into clear project scopes
· Assist with opportunity setup, quote coordination, and tracking in NetSuite
· Follow up consistently to keep momentum moving in a fast, resource‑constrained environment
· Help improve how we price, scope, and position services as we learn from customers
Represent a Technical, Entrepreneurial CDMO
· Confidently discuss lentiviral CDMO capabilities at a high level (no scripting)
· Explain what we do, how we’re different, and where we fit in a sponsor’s development journey
· Collaborate closely with technical, project management, and finance teams
· Communicate clearly with scientists, founders, and executives—often in the same conversation
· Deliver a strong, responsive customer experience even when processes are evolving
Build the Foundation, Not Just Follow Process
· Help define early sales workflows in HubSpot and NetSuite
· Share feedback from prospects to influence marketing, service offerings, and strategy
· Support conference lead follow-up, pitch refinement, and messaging
· Generate simple pipeline and activity reports to support decision-making
· Wear multiple hats—you’ll help wherever revenue and growth need support
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Leads qualified per month (Marketing Qualified Leads to Sales Qualified Leads)
· Inbound lead response time (target: same business day)
· Opportunities created and advanced per quarter
· Pipeline value influenced or generated
· Conversion rate from first call to qualified opportunity
· Follow-up compliance and CRM data accuracy in HubSpot and NetSuite
· Conference and campaign lead follow-up completion rate
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field
· 1–4 years experience in inside sales or customer-facing biotech/CDMO roles
· Working knowledge of lentiviral vectors and early-stage cell therapy development
· Hands-on experience with HubSpot and NetSuite (or similar CRM/ERP systems)
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment
Compensation & Benefits
· We offer a competitive compensation package designed for an early-stage, high-growth environment and aligned with individual and company performance.
· Base Salary: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and location. Range $125k-$175k.
· Variable Compensation: Performance-based bonus or commission tied to lead qualification, pipeline creation, and revenue impact
