Brooksource is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to support a wide range of on‑prem and private cloud initiatives within a large enterprise environment in Charlotte, NC, St. Louis, MO, or Denver, CO. In this hybrid role, you will partner with infrastructure, operations, and intake engineering teams to guide hardware decisions, support migration efforts, and optimize compute configurations across the environment.

This position is ideal for a technical generalist who enjoys hands‑on engineering work, learning new technologies, and supporting multiple efforts across the organization. You will help offload responsibilities from the current lead architect, assist with intake processes, and ensure teams are selecting the correct hardware and configurations for their needs. The role is heavily focused on on‑prem and private cloud environments, with limited but valuable exposure to public cloud technologies.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Support the lead architect by taking ownership of surrounding tasks related to updates, migrations, and intake workflows
• Provide high‑level technical guidance to teams selecting server and compute hardware
• Work directly with vendors to review requirements, create BOMs, and optimize configurations to avoid unnecessary spend
• Modify existing solution designs to meet project needs and hand off finalized designs to operations for implementation
• Participate in on‑prem and private cloud migration efforts and coordinate with engineering and operations teams
• Assist with data center deployment planning, including maintenance windows and scheduling
• Serve as a technical generalist capable of answering questions beyond the scope of intake engineering
• Support additional internal initiatives as needed to ensure continuity across the organization
• Maintain documentation related to hardware, configurations, and intake processes

WHAT YOU BRING

• 2–5+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems, or cloud engineering
• Strong understanding of server and computer hardware, including vendor engagement and configuration optimization
• Experience working in on‑prem and private cloud environments; public cloud familiarity is a plus
• Knowledge of data center operations, deployment windows, and infrastructure lifecycle processes
• Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals
• Ability to modify existing architectures rather than design net‑new solutions from scratch
• Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies quickly
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple technical teams
• Generalist mindset with the ability to support a wide range of initiatives
