Junior Cyber Technology Support Engineer

Insight Global is hiring two Junior Cyber Technology Support Engineers to support solar plant infrastructure across Virginia. This is an early‑career, hands‑on opportunity ideal for someone with 1–2 years of experience or a recent graduate who has exposure to patching, firmware updates, and mission‑critical environments such as industrial systems, data centers, or utilities.

Location & Schedule
- Onsite at solar facilities across Eastern Shore, Southern VA, and Western VA
- Local / Virginia-based candidates strongly preferred
- Monday–Friday schedule
- Monday: Prep, planning, and coordination
- Tuesday–Thursday: Onsite solar plant support (typically 2 sites/week)
- Friday: Documentation, audits, and wrap-up work
What You’ll Do
- Support the Cyber Technology team responsible for solar plant infrastructure
- Assist with system patching, firmware updates, and basic system hardening
- Help audit solar sites to ensure ports are blocked and cybersecurity standards are met
- Support and monitor servers, NAS devices, and backup systems
- Perform basic network and system troubleshooting using tools like Wireshark
- Assist with updates that load to centralized servers
- Travel onsite to different solar facilities throughout the week
- Document site findings, remediation steps, and compliance updates
- Work closely with senior engineers and cyber leadership to maintain plant security
What We’re Looking For
- 1–2 years of experience OR a recent graduate with relevant internships or hands-on experience
- Exposure to patching systems and/or updating firmware
- Some experience in an industrial, mission‑critical, or data center environment
- (through work, internship, co‑op, or lab experience)
- Working knowledge of Windows (Microsoft) environments
- Basic familiarity with servers, rack-mounted hardware, or data center concepts
- Introductory experience with network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark or similar)
- Understanding of backup and restore concepts (VMs, NAS, server backups)
- Comfortable traveling to multiple sites across Virginia
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document work clearly
Nice-to-Have (Not Required)
- Internship or early-career experience in cybersecurity, IT, or OT
- Exposure to ICS / SCADA or industrial control environments
- Experience supporting solar plants, utilities, energy, or critical infrastructure
- Familiarity with NAS devices, inverter networks, or controllers
- Experience working in regulated environments
- Familiarity with Dell hardware
