General Transportation, Inc. is a logistics and transportation company based in Van Buren, AR. We support General Transportation and ART Transport, and we operate in a fast-paced environment where reliable IT keeps dispatch, load management, billing, and accounting moving every day.
Position Summary
We're looking for an experienced IT Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day technology operations. This is a hands-on role responsible for the full IT function — supporting end users, maintaining infrastructure, administering business-critical applications, and ensuring our systems run reliably. The right candidate is comfortable wearing multiple hats, troubleshooting at the technician level when needed, and managing technology projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
End-User Support
• Provide tier 1 through tier 3 IT support to office staff.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, peripherals, printers, and connectivity issues.
• Manage user onboarding and offboarding, including account provisioning and access controls.
• Maintain workstation health through patching, updates, and endpoint management.
Infrastructure & Systems
• Administer Windows Server 2019 / Hyper-V environment, including domain controllers, file servers, and application servers.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, and NTFS folder-level security.
• Maintain Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online tenant including user accounts, shared mailboxes, MFA, and conditional access policies.
• Administer Ubiquiti UniFi network including switches, gateways, VLAN segmentation, and wireless.
Application Support
• Serve as the IT escalation point for our McLeod Software TMS, which runs dispatch, load management, and operations.
• Support QuickBooks for accounting and finance teams.
• Coordinate with vendor support teams on complex application issues.
Backup & Security
• Manage backup and disaster recovery using Veeam, Synology C2, and Unitrends.
• Maintain security posture including endpoint hardening, MFA enforcement, and access reviews.
Telecom
• Administer the 3CX VoIP phone system across both companies.
Required Qualifications
• 3-5 years of IT experience in a sysadmin, MSP, or in-house IT role.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online administration.
• Familiarity with Hyper-V or other virtualization platforms.
• Networking fundamentals: LAN/WAN, VLANs, IP networking, and basic firewall administration.
• Experience supporting end users at all technical levels.
• Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-moving environment with competing demands.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical staff.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting a TMS or ERP system (McLeod a plus).
• Experience supporting QuickBooks.
• Familiarity with Ubiquiti UniFi networking equipment.
• Backup and disaster recovery experience (Veeam, Unitrends, or similar).
• Logistics, trucking, or related industry experience.

• Hands-on by default — comfortable troubleshooting a printer one minute and configuring a server the next.
• Strong sense of urgency when production-impacting issues arise.
• Comfortable being the only IT person in the building — independent, resourceful, and reliable.
• Willing to be available for occasional after-hours or weekend support when business needs require it.
Work Environment
• Full-time, fully on-site at our Van Buren, AR office.
• Standard business hours with occasional after-hours support as needed.
