How you’ll make an impact in this role
- Lead the design and execution of infection control strategies to cultivate a safer, more resilient environment for both patients and staff.
- Investigate and resolve potential health risks by identifying infection sources, ensuring rapid intervention and the containment of suspected outbreaks.
- Translate complex regulatory standards and professional guidelines into actionable bedside practices that exceed national safety benchmarks.
- Empower the clinical team through the creation and delivery of engaging educational tools that bridge the gap between epidemiology and daily patient care.
- Advocate for data-driven safety by reporting critical surveillance trends to public health authorities and internal committees to influence hospital-wide policy.
What minimum requirements you’ll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Preferred Credential(s):
- BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Certification specializing in Infection Control credentialed from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC).
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing OR current certification as a Medical Technologist credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
What additional preferences we're seeking
- Clinical Nursing Expertise: Current, unrestricted RN licensure with a background in hospital-based acute care is essential to navigate the complexities of our clinical workflows.
- Proven Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives, mentor staff, or manage clinical projects, ensuring you can drive safety culture across multidisciplinary teams.
- Infection Surveillance & Certification: Proficiency in NHSN and Sentri7, along with the commitment to obtain your CIC (Certification in Infection Control) within three years of hire.
