Why Work Here?:
Employees benefit from a comprehensive and supportive package that includes free healthcare, consistent pay increases, and generous overtime premiums, including enhanced pay for weekends and holidays. The organization offers company-paid lunches on long overtime shifts, an annual boot voucher, and supplied uniforms to help employees perform their work comfortably and safely. A robust benefits program includes HSA options, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as dependent and spouse life insurance with a company match. Team members enjoy nine paid holidays, quarterly food trucks, and access to an annual college scholarship program for children and grandchildren of employees. The union environment provides structure, the ability to bid on positions, and the opportunity to secure a set shift over time, supporting long-term career growth and stability.
Work Environment:
The role is based in a unionized, hot, and heavy industrial steel manufacturing facility that produces mechanical steel tubing, tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components. The environment is heavy industrial and can be dirty, with high heat around furnaces and generally fair temperatures throughout the rest of the plant. Noise levels are usually loud, especially near tube drop-off areas and moving mechanical parts. Employees frequently work around conveyors, rollers, furnaces, robotic arms, and other large industrial machinery, and may occasionally encounter wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, caustic chemicals, outside weather, and extreme heat. The physical demands include regular standing and walking, frequent use of hands and arms, climbing or balancing, and occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The work is described as laid back and not very physically strenuous overall, despite the industrial setting. This is a union environment where it takes approximately 800 working hours to be brought fully into the union, with dues starting after 30 days and the ability to bid on positions and eventually obtain a set shift. The standard training schedule is on 1st shift (7:00 AM–3:00 PM), with ongoing roles available on 2nd shift (3:00 PM–11:00 PM) and 3rd shift (11:00 PM–7:00 AM), each offering a shift differential. Regular overtime is expected, with typical weekly hours in the 50–60 hour range. Appropriate industrial workwear and safety gear are required in all production areas.
