HVAC Skilled Maintenance Technician II
In this position, you will perform a variety of skilled construction, maintenance, and repair duties in support of the City Facilities Maintenance Division and provide technical assistance to assigned supervisory staff.
This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year, and any furloughs subsequently approved.

As a Skilled Maintenance Tech II, you will:
- Perform the full range of skilled maintenance and technical duties in support of the Facilities Maintenance Division; including design, construction and installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, devices and systems
- Perform in-depth knowledge and expertise in HVAC and perform other related general maintenance duties as assigned
- Complete assigned work and tasks requiring skilled maintenance methods and techniques
- Read and interpret plans and drawings; assess projects in the field; design and layout projects
- Properly and efficiently complete tasks using of hand and power tools and shop equipment
- Estimate time, materials, and equipment required for jobs; requisition materials as required
- Provide assistance to assigned supervisory staff; serve as technical advisor as needed
- Perform field inspections to ensure work quality and adherence to City policies and approved work plans and designs; maintain operation records; file reports as needed
- Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information of assignment and explain City policies and procedures to the general public
- May be required to remain on-call for emergency/disaster situations
- May lead the work of lower level coworkers, contracted staff and temporary personnel
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures and workplace safety
- Review completed work for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate
Knowledge Of:
- A technical facility maintenance craft discipline with use of analytical judgement and decision making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization
- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning troubleshooting maintenance principles
- Maintenance methods and techniques
- Equipment, materials, chemicals and supplies used in facilities maintenance
- Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations
Ability to:
- Stay current on new trends, innovations and technology specific to facilities maintenance
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Work individually and/or in a team environment
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years of full-time experience in facilities maintenance

- Experience working in multiple facilities craft disciplines
- Five-plus years HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting experience
- Facilities maintenance crew-lead experience
- Currently posses or obtain upon hire a Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification
- Currently posses or obtain upon hire a Mechanic IV license
In this position, you may be required to be placed in on-call status and/or work overtime, at times, to assist with emergencies/disaster situations.
