Job Title: HVAC Service Technician

Job Description

The HVAC Service Technician installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and supports specialized HVAC and ECU systems, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards. This role combines hands-on mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration work with technical analysis, documentation review, and occasional travel to customer sites across the United States.

Shift and Pay

First Shift M-F 6 am - 4:30 pm

Pay: $26-$39/hr based on experience

Responsibilities

  • Confer with customers and internal stakeholders, using strong communication and critical thinking skills to determine repair priorities and service strategies.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and correct ECU system operation issues and accessories by investigating system setup, mechanical functions, and electrical/electronic performance.
  • Perform HVAC service, repair, and maintenance activities, including refrigeration circuit diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Assist in failure analysis and investigations by providing detailed technical insights and collaborating with engineering and quality teams to develop effective corrective actions.
  • Support training efforts during customer sessions by providing clear instructions and guidance for field replacement of components.
  • Ensure products are manufactured, assembled, and tested in strict compliance with product drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), approved workmanship standards, and work instructions.
  • Read and interpret work orders, sheet metal part drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, refrigeration diagrams, and assembly drawings to perform accurate repairs and tests.
  • Use computer-based test systems to connect to equipment, run required tests, and document results.
  • Travel approximately 10–15% of the time to customer sites across the United States to troubleshoot and repair units, including occasional trips that may extend beyond three days.
  • Provide constructive feedback on product performance and serviceability to support continuous improvement.
  • Work independently to manage assigned tasks, prioritize workload, and complete service activities with minimal supervision.

Essential Skills

  • High school or vo-tech diploma with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an associate degree with at least 3 years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and service.
  • Hands-on experience in HVAC systems, including refrigeration circuit troubleshooting and electrical diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting work orders, sheet metal part drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, refrigeration diagrams, and assembly drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for HVAC and ECU systems, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
  • Ability to perform brazing and refrigerant handling safely and effectively.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification, minimum Level I & II.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time and priorities effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback to engineering and quality teams.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and internal teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10–15% of the time within the United States, including occasional multi-day trips.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred experience in industrial HVAC equipment assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ECU systems and related accessories.
  • IPC 620 Certification.
  • J-Std-001 Certification.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Comfort using computer-based systems to connect to equipment and run diagnostic or validation tests.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean and well-lit manufacturing facility that is not fully climate controlled. You will primarily work in a quiet room equipped with a computer and the HVAC or ECU equipment being tested, connecting units to computer systems to run required tests and record results. The broader environment includes a manufacturing floor with approximately 22 employees, fostering a close-knit and collaborative atmosphere. The standard shift runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with voluntary overtime typically available on Fridays from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Dress code consists of jeans or work pants, a clean shirt, and steel-toe footwear to ensure safety and professionalism on the shop floor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $39.00/hr.
