This non-supervisory position aids the Human Resources Office which is responsible for the various aspects of the human resources functions of the College. The Human Resources Specialist provides information and assistance to College employees and the general public regarding human resources activities, prepares various correspondence related to area of assignment, and performs a variety of tasks related to human resources.


Salary: Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule E2: (Salary range: $45,220 - $68,169)

Benefits: Full time employees are entitled to the College’s benefit package to include: PEEHIP, retirement, leave (annual, sick, and personal), etc.


Start Date: As soon as possible.


The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Receive, visitors, potential applicants, and college personnel in a prompt and courteous manner and provide information as required
  • Prepare employment verifications, letter of appointments, tuition waivers, FMLA notifications, and other employment forms as requested
  • Process incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • Responsible for onboarding all part-time employment. (work-study, tutors, adjuncts, etc.)
  • Reviews and verifies employment applications and support documents in accordance with established guidelines
  • Provides guidance to employees regarding human resources policies and procedures; assists in interpreting and applying policies consistently and appropriately.
  • Generate data and reports from Argos
  • Maintain the filing of all personnel files in BDM, purge inactive files
  • Enter employee data into Banner
  • Assist in processing employment forms and other documents for new hires
  • Respond to employment inquiries by phone or written correspondence
  • Order office supplies, prepare purchase orders, and travel requests forms
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Maintain confidentiality of departmental information
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and work with highly sensitive data and information is required.
  • Serve on college committees as assigned
  • Maintain appropriate work hours
  • Assume other professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Human Resources/SPO.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Business Administration or closely related field is required.
  • Two Years (2) years of full-time time Human Resources experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and apply procedures consistently and accurately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work experience in Banner preferred.
  • Work experience in NeoEd preferred.
