Position Overview

We are looking for a hands-on, execution-focused HR Specialist to support day-to-day HR operations across our U.S. business. This role is highly operational and detail-driven, with a strong emphasis on compliance, accuracy, responsiveness, and accountability.

The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-demand environment, managing high volumes of transactional work while ensuring strict adherence to California labor laws and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Employee Lifecycle & Data Management

  • Independently manage onboarding, offboarding, and all employee status changes (promotion, transfer, compensation changes, etc.)
  • Ensure all employee documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with federal and California requirements
  • Maintain clean, audit-ready employee records at all times

2. Timekeeping & Payroll Execution

  • Own day-to-day timekeeping data review and validation, including:
  • meal/rest break compliance
  • overtime accuracy
  • attendance irregularities
  • Work closely with operations and payroll teams to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Ensure payroll inputs are accurate and delivered on time with minimal error tolerance

3. Benefits Administration

  • Execute benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations with high accuracy
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits in a clear and timely manner
  • Support benefits program administration and continuous improvement

4. Compliance & Risk Control

  • Ensure strict compliance with California labor laws, including wage & hour regulations
  • Proactively identify and flag compliance risks (e.g., timekeeping issues, documentation gaps)
  • Support internal audits and compliance reviews when required

5. HR Support & Execution

  • Provide responsive, solutions-oriented HR support to store operations and internal stakeholders
  • Handle high-volume HR inquiries with professionalism and efficiency
  • Execute additional tasks and projects assigned by leadership without close supervision

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (HR or related field preferred)
  • Minimum 1–2 years of HR operations experience (must be hands-on, not purely administrative exposure)
  • Strong working knowledge of California labor laws, especially:
  • meal & rest break compliance
  • overtime rules
  • wage & hour requirements
  • Experience with HRIS systems required; ADP or Rippling preferred

What We Are Looking For (Critical Traits)

  • Strong execution ability – able to deliver accurate work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • High attention to detail – low tolerance for errors in payroll, compliance, and documentation
  • Strong ownership mindset – takes responsibility and follows through
  • Logical and structured thinking – able to identify issues and propose solutions
  • High adaptability – comfortable in an evolving, sometimes ambiguous environment
  • High stress tolerance – able to handle workload peaks and urgent requests
  • Willingness to support extended hours when business needs require
  • Comfortable working with cross-cultural and cross-time-zone teams

Work Arrangement

  • Remote work until November 2026 due to office setup
  • Required to work onsite 5 days/week in Irvine, CA after office opening

Important Notes

  • This role requires a high level of accountability and responsiveness
  • This is not a purely administrative HR role — candidates are expected to own execution and deliver results
  • Candidates who are not comfortable with a fast-paced, high-demand environment may not be a fit
