We are seeking a Human Resources Manager to support HR initiatives across our growing portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this role leads day-to-day HR operations, focusing on employee relations, workplace investigations, compliance, and risk management, while supervising HR team members. Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Oversight
- Supervise and support HR team members (e.g., HR Generalists/Coordinators)
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback
- Partner with the Director of HR to implement HR priorities and initiatives
- Employee Relations & Investigations
- Act as a primary escalation point for complex employee relations issues
- Conduct and oversee thorough, compliant workplace investigations
- Advise managers on performance management, corrective action, and terminations
- Promote consistency and fairness across all properties
- Compliance & Legal Partnership
- Ensure compliance with California and multi-state employment laws
- Partner with the Director of HR and legal counsel on higher-risk matters
- Support responses to agency claims and audits (EEOC, CRD, DOL, etc.)
- Assist in rolling out HR policies, procedures, and training
- Claims & Risk Management
- Manage employee-related claims including workers' compensation and EPLI
- Coordinate with insurance carriers and legal partners
- Track trends and recommend proactive risk mitigation strategies
- HR Operations
- Oversee onboarding/offboarding and HR compliance processes
- Extensive knowledge of employment & labor law, OSHA regulations, workers' compensation procedures, and benefits administration
- Support audits (I-9s, personnel files) and HR best practices
- Partner with payroll and benefits teams on issue resolution
- Ensure consistency across a multi-site, decentralized workforce
- Provide direct coverage for HR Generalist responsibilities as needed, including during absences, high-volume periods, or open vacancies, ensuring continuity of HR support across the organization
- Lead all aspects of human resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee orientation, and talent sourcing to attract top talent for property management roles
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals, including succession planning, performance management, and organizational design
- Administer employee benefits programs, payroll processing using systems like Workday or ADP, and manage workers' compensation claims with precision and compliance
- Ensure adherence to employment laws such as FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), and other labor regulations; provide guidance on contracts and legal compliance issues
- Manage employee relations by resolving conflicts effectively through negotiation and conflict management techniques; foster an inclusive environment that promotes employee engagement
- Oversee HRIS (Human Resources Information System) data collection, analysis, and reporting to support strategic decision-making; utilize platforms like SAP SuccessFactors or Oracle HCM for efficient HR operations
- Conduct training & development sessions to enhance employee skills; facilitate change management initiatives to improve processes and organizational effectiveness
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 6 - 8 years of HR experience, with strong employee relations focus
- Prior supervisory or lead experience required
- Strong knowledge of California employment law
- Experience handling investigations and sensitive employee matters
- Ability to support remote, field-based teams
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) preferred
- Experience in property management, hospitality, or service industries with a dispersed workforce

Pay range and compensation package
Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience.
