Position Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on HRM from the Trucking industry. This is a highly visible, field-facing HRM role ideal for a professional who balances strategic partnership with day-to-day execution across three facilities in northern NJ and NY. The HRM will work closely with leadership to drive employee engagement, performance, compliance, and workforce effectiveness, while remaining actively involved on the floor with managers and employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted HR Business Partner to site leadership, advising on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and people-related decisions.
  • Act as the primary HR point of contact for employees and managers across all locations, maintaining a strong on-site presence.
  • Partner with leaders on employee relations matters, including performance issues, attendance, investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Support and guide leaders through onboarding and new hire integration, ensuring a consistent and compliant employee experience.
  • Ensure compliance with NJ and NY labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, leave laws, and employee classification.
  • Partner with operations and leadership to support DOT compliance and related documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate on training and development initiatives, including onboarding, compliance training, safety programs, and leadership coaching.
  • Support payroll processes in partnership with ADP, including timecard review, issue resolution, and employee payroll questions.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation in alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Support a workforce of approximately less than 100 employees across a few facilities.
  • Travel to facilities as needed to support leadership, employee relations, onboarding, and compliance needs.
  • Partner with leadership to build, refine, and implement practical HR policies and procedures that support business objectives.
  • Use HR data and observations to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of progressive HR experience, including experience in an HR Business Partner or senior HR generalist role.
  • Strong working knowledge of NJ and NY employment laws.
  • Experience supporting hourly workforces in operational, service-based, or multi-site environments.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with ADP payroll systems.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Organized, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership.
