What will I do?
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to join the largest independently owned custom packaging and product solutions company in the U.S. This is an exciting opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain hands-on exposure to core HR functions while also collaborating with fellow interns on a high-visibility cohort project to be presented to executive leadership.
The HR Intern will support day-to-day HR operations, contribute to department initiatives, and develop professional skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
Talent Acquisition
- Shadow and assist with full-cycle recruiting activities including drafting job postings, sourcing candidates, screening resumes, and coordinating interviews
- Assist with new hire onboarding logistics, including pre-employment documentation, background check coordination, and assigning training courses through the LMS
HRIS & Data Management
- Support day-to-day HRIS data entry, audits, and maintenance to ensure employee records are current, accurate, and compliant
- Assist with HRIS reporting and the generation of standard and ad hoc HR data reports for internal stakeholders
- Support system testing, workflow configuration, and user acceptance activities related to HRIS upgrades or new module implementations
- Partner with the HR team to identify data integrity issues and support process improvements within the HRIS platform
Digitization of Personnel Files
- Lead and support the scanning, indexing, and digitization of physical personnel files into the company’s electronic document management system
- Ensure document classification and naming conventions are applied consistently and in compliance with records retention policies
- Maintain confidentiality and data security standards throughout the digitization process, handling sensitive employee information with the utmost discretion
- Track and report progress of the digitization project, flagging any discrepancies or missing documentation to the HR team
General HR Support
- Assist in drafting HR communications, templates, and standard operating procedures
- Help coordinate employee engagement programs, and recognition initiatives
- Support benefits administration by responding to employee inquiries and preparing informational materials
- Conduct research and benchmarking on HR best practices, compensation trends, and industry standards
- Participate in HR department meetings and contribute ideas and observations from an intern perspective
Duration and Hours: June 1st to the August 21st. Can work up to 40 hours a week. Must be able to work 3 days from the corporate office located in Madison, NJ
Role Requirements
Education
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's degree program
- Preferred fields of study: Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, Communications, or related discipline
Skills & Competencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
