Job Title: Bilingual HR Generalist (Japanese/English)

Location: Santa Clara, CA (Onsite – Full-Time)

Salary Range: $110,000 – $120,000


Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bilingual HR Generalist (Japanese/English) to join our team onsite in Santa Clara. This role will support a growing organization by managing day-to-day HR operations, partnering with leadership, and ensuring alignment between U.S. and Japan-based business practices. The ideal candidate comes from a mid-sized company environment (~200 employees) and thrives in a fast-paced, cross-cultural setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary HR point of contact for employees and managers across U.S. and Japan teams
  • Support full-cycle HR functions including onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
  • Facilitate communication and alignment between U.S. and Japan headquarters
  • Assist with benefits administration, payroll coordination, and HRIS management
  • Partner with leadership on organizational development, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Handle employee relations matters with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Support recruiting efforts, including coordination, interviewing, and candidate experience
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
  • Translate HR policies, communications, and documentation between Japanese and English as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bilingual fluency in Japanese and English (written and spoken)
  • 3–6+ years of HR Generalist experience
  • Experience working at a company with approximately 200 employees (mid-sized environment)
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. labor laws and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting cross-border teams, preferably U.S.–Japan collaboration
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Santa Clara, CA
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent)
  • Experience in tech, manufacturing, or international corporate environments
  • Familiarity with Japanese business culture and corporate practices
