Job Title: Bilingual HR Generalist (Japanese/English)
Location: Santa Clara, CA (Onsite – Full-Time)
Salary Range: $110,000 – $120,000
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bilingual HR Generalist (Japanese/English) to join our team onsite in Santa Clara. This role will support a growing organization by managing day-to-day HR operations, partnering with leadership, and ensuring alignment between U.S. and Japan-based business practices. The ideal candidate comes from a mid-sized company environment (~200 employees) and thrives in a fast-paced, cross-cultural setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary HR point of contact for employees and managers across U.S. and Japan teams
- Support full-cycle HR functions including onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
- Facilitate communication and alignment between U.S. and Japan headquarters
- Assist with benefits administration, payroll coordination, and HRIS management
- Partner with leadership on organizational development, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives
- Handle employee relations matters with professionalism and confidentiality
- Support recruiting efforts, including coordination, interviewing, and candidate experience
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
- Translate HR policies, communications, and documentation between Japanese and English as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual fluency in Japanese and English (written and spoken)
- 3–6+ years of HR Generalist experience
- Experience working at a company with approximately 200 employees (mid-sized environment)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. labor laws and HR best practices
- Experience supporting cross-border teams, preferably U.S.–Japan collaboration
- Ability to work onsite full-time in Santa Clara, CA
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent)
- Experience in tech, manufacturing, or international corporate environments
- Familiarity with Japanese business culture and corporate practices
