HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Union Rescue Mission (URM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. We are dedicated to serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness and providing comprehensive emergency and long-term services to help them escape the dangerous streets of Skid Row. Established in 1891, URM is now one of the largest rescue missions of its kind in the United States and the oldest in Los Angeles. HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR CORE WORK PRINCIPLE:

HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinates housekeeping department work and staff to ensure clean, sanitary, and orderly conditions of establishment by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for routine inspection throughout the property, Organize, prioritize, training, and schedule work for housekeeping staff.
  • Responsible for office and special event room set-ups.
  • Assist and coordinate moving and relocating facility furniture and equipment.
  • Coordinate department tasks and special projects.
  • Perform routine facility inspections to ensure the building is clean and sanitized.
  • Monitor and assign work requests in UpKeep CMMS Software and progress.
  • Coordinate and schedule duties for volunteers, and apprentices.
  • Maintain CDC/Health Department guidelines.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper chemical handlings and PPE usage.
  • Lead and train custodial staff, CLDP (Christian Life Discipleship Program), Apprentice and Volunteers.
  • Ability to work variable schedules (morning, evening, weekends, and holidays) and rotate between shifts; and standby for emergency call back(s) occasionally, required.
  • Keep inventory and order departmental supplies for multiple locations within budget.
  • Attends onsite inspections with the Health Inspector at multiple locations.
  • Must be able to travel to other business locations, as needed.
  • Conduct other tasks and projects assigned by the Facilities Manager, and Director of Facilities
  • Commitment to URM (Union Rescue Mission) mission, vision, and core values.
  • Encourage guests in their faith and growth in Jesus Christ.
  • Provide functional direction and guidance for staff of 15-30 employees.
  • Collaborate with management around housekeeping issues.
  • Coordinating deep cleaning projects, carpet cleaning, pressure washing, or specialty cleaning tasks.

HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Requires manual dexterity for regular repetitive finger motion and frequently reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting of objects and operating equipment.
  • May be exposed to handling hazardous materials such as broken glass, bodily fluids, and chemicals.

HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Noise levels are considered moderate to high.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at work sites.

Requirements

HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have valid driver license.
  • Must have minimum of 10 years prior supervisory experience.


HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read basic English, effectively.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams)
  • Ability to organize workload for effective implementation.
  • Ability to deliver quality customer service.
