Job Description

This housekeeping role supports a large distribution facility by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment across warehouse, office, and common areas. You will perform a wide range of janitorial and sanitization tasks, help manage housekeeping supplies, and contribute to a strong safety culture on site.

Responsibilities

• Clean bag goods aisles thoroughly to maintain a neat and organized appearance.
• Sweep and vacuum trash in assigned aisles to keep floors clear and safe.
• Pick up broken pallets, cardboard, and trash throughout the facility.
• Empty cardboard in the warehouse and assist with making bales as needed.
• Remove damaged products and transport them to the designated damage area.
• Maintain and clean stairwells to ensure safe and clear passageways.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, office areas, breakrooms, and other common spaces.
• Empty trash cans regularly in all assigned areas.
• Order and replenish housekeeping and cleaning supplies as needed.
• Sanitize high-touch surfaces such as door handles, handrails, phones, and similar areas.
• Clean interior windows and glass surfaces to maintain a professional appearance.
• Maintain a safe work environment at all times by following safety guidelines and reporting hazards.
• During inclement weather, maintain sidewalks by shoveling snow, applying ice melt, and keeping walkways clear.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience with housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial duties.
• Strong cleaning skills, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and general sanitization.
• Ability to perform trash removal, including lifting and carrying trash bags and boxes.
• Capability to lift and carry 50–60 lbs safely as part of daily tasks.
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time during the shift.
• Ability to stoop, squat, and kneel on a regular basis while performing cleaning tasks.
• Safety-oriented mindset with a focus on maintaining a clean and hazard-free environment.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays as required by the schedule.
• Ability to manage and order housekeeping supplies accurately and in a timely manner.
• Comfort working in a general labor environment within a large facility.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse or industrial housekeeping is helpful.
• Familiarity with operating basic cleaning equipment such as vacuums and floor tools.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure all assigned areas meet cleanliness standards.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality to support facility operations.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team across multiple departments.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large distribution facility with approximately 200 employees working across three shifts. Housekeeping positions are available on 1st shift (Sunday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM) and 2nd shift (Friday–Tuesday, 4:00 PM–12:30 AM). The facility is not temperature controlled, so you should be comfortable dressing in layers, with large fans used during the summer months to improve comfort. The dress code requires a neat appearance, no hoodies, and no earbuds while working. Athletic clothing is allowed, hats are permitted, and sneakers are acceptable; steel-toed or composite-toe shoes are not required. You will work throughout warehouse, office, stairwell, and common areas, performing active, physical tasks in a busy operational environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Gansevoort, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.25/hr.
