In keeping with the Marian Regional Medical Center and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital philosophy, the Patient Care Supervisor/Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the management of Marian Regional Medical Center and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital Nursing services after routine administration hours. In collaboration with the Nurse Managers, the Patient Care Supervisor/Nursing Supervisor is responsible on an assigned shift for the direction and supervision of quality care to patients of all ages.
In accordance with Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goal 12 on Nurse Staffing, the House Supervisor serves as the designated nurse executive delegate during nights, weekends, and other off-hour periods.
This role ensures 24/7 oversight of nursing services, staffing adequacy, and resource allocation across all patient care units to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
The House Supervisor provides administrative and clinical leadership, ensures appropriate RN supervision is present at all times, and actively evaluates staffing based on patient acuity, volume, and skill mix using approved tools (e.g., TEAM timecard and Lawson analytics).
The position participates in continuous quality improvement activities, escalation of safety or staffing variances, and supports the Chief Nursing Officer in executing the hospital's Nurse Staffing Plan, including engagement with the Professional Practice Council and the CNA Professional Practice Committee.
