General Manager - Hotel Royal
About Us
Royal Hotel is a 40-room 1923 Art Deco boutique property in the heart of Long Beach's East Village Arts District. We're a family run, customer first, independent hotel with a warm, design-forward personality — and we're looking for a hands-on GM who is creative and innovative and takes genuine pride in running a tight, guest-focused operation.
The Role
You'll be the owner's eyes, ears, and right hand on property. This is a true operator role — you'll oversee daily hotel operations, lead and hold staff accountable, manage purchasing and vendor relationships, and ensure guests consistently have an exceptional experience. You'll report directly to ownership and be expected to run the property with integrity and initiative. The best part is you will have autonomy without micro-management and the freedom to try new initiatives, tech, and anything that will keep us ahead of our slower moving branded competitors.
What You'll Own
Day-to-day hotel operations: front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest relations
Independent initiatives to help boost profitability including guest upsells, micro markets, local business tie ins, etc. with possible profit sharing/commissions for each
Staff scheduling, training, performance management, and accountability
Purchasing controls — vendor sourcing, purchase approvals, and inventory tracking
Guest satisfaction and resolution of any issues that arise on property
Property maintenance coordination and vendor relationships
Compliance with health, safety, and local regulations
Accurate use of the property management system (Cloudbeds) and daily reporting to ownership
