📅 12-Month Contract (potential for extension)

🏭 Industry: Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Histotechnician to support a fast-paced Research & Development team within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. This role is highly hands-on, combining day-to-day lab operations with project-driven histopathology work.

You’ll play a key role in supporting discovery and translational research through high-quality tissue processing, staining, and assay execution.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Perform routine histology tasks: tissue processing, embedding, microtome sectioning, staining, slide prep, and coverslipping
  • Develop and execute histopathology assays including H&E, special stains, IHC, and ISH
  • Design and run multiplex tissue-based assays (IHC/IF) ensuring reproducibility and data quality
  • Support lab operations: sample intake, tracking, reagent prep, inventory, and equipment maintenance
  • Conduct quality control (QC) on tissue sections, stains, and imaging outputs
  • Operate and maintain lab instruments (automated stainers, microtomes, slide scanners)
  • Maintain detailed documentation, SOPs, and experimental records
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and clearly communicate findings and data insights

Day-to-Day Breakdown

  • 80% project-based lab work (staining, assay development, sample processing)
  • 20% operational support (sample intake, documentation, lab coordination)

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on histotechnology experience
  • Strong expertise in histopathology assays (IHC and/or ISH)
  • Deep understanding of assay QC, reproducibility, and documentation standards
  • Experience working with FFPE tissue samples
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative lab environment

Nice to Have

  • Multiplex assay experience (IHC/IF)
  • Experience with spatial biology platforms (e.g., COMET™)
  • Image analysis experience

Technical Environment

  • Automated stainers (e.g., Bond RX)
  • Microtomes and slide scanning systems
  • Standard histology and imaging lab equipment

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Histotechnology, Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field

Team & Environment

  • Small core team (~3 members) with extensive cross-functional collaboration (20+ stakeholders)
  • Highly collaborative, research-driven environment

Interview Process

  • 1st Round: 30-minute virtual interview
  • 2nd Round: 1-hour virtual panel
  • Final Round: Possible onsite

Start Date

  • Targeting mid-to-late May (earlier availability preferred)

If you're a detail-oriented histotechnician who enjoys hands-on lab work and contributing to impactful research, this is a great opportunity to join a dynamic R&D team.
