Job Title: Medical Packager

Job Description

The Medical Packager works in the packaging area of an operations team, carefully packaging completed medical device units according to defined manufacturing processes. This role focuses on accuracy, quality, and consistency, and is ideal for someone who has strong hand dexterity, can follow detailed instructions, and is looking for a long-term career opportunity in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Package completed medical device units according to established manufacturing processes and documented procedures.
  • Follow detailed work instructions and labeling requirements to ensure each product is packaged correctly and traceably.
  • Identify and apply the correct labels by accurately recognizing and distinguishing colors for labeling.
  • Use a microscope and other basic production tools to inspect and handle small components with precision and care.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and cleanliness at the workstation to support regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and quality initiatives to enhance production processes and support quality and profitability metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to maintain a healthy, safe, and cooperative working environment.
  • Communicate clearly in English, both in writing and verbally, to support documentation, audits, and team coordination.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including wearing required safety glasses and ESD shoes while on the production floor.
  • Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and flexibility in tasks, assisting in related areas such as cleanroom operations when requested.
  • Be willing and able to work weekly overtime as required, understanding that overtime needs may vary from week to week.
  • Accept direction and feedback from supervisors and trainers, and apply it to improve performance and accuracy over time.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly in English in both written and oral form for documentation and audit purposes.
  • Ability to accurately recognize and distinguish colors for correct product labeling.
  • Strong hand dexterity and fine motor skills to handle small components and perform detailed packaging tasks.
  • Ability to use a microscope effectively for inspection and handling of medical device components.
  • Demonstrated punctuality, reliability, and willingness to learn new tasks and procedures.
  • Ability to follow detailed written instructions and standardized manufacturing processes.
  • Comfort working in a production or manufacturing environment with medical device products.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime on a weekly basis, with varying overtime hours.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe workplace and following all safety and quality protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in medical device assembly, medical assembly, or similar regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with packaging processes in a production setting.
  • Experience working in or around a cleanroom environment, even if not the primary work area.
  • Background check that demonstrates longevity in previous positions and interest in long-term career opportunities.
  • Flexibility to assist with different tasks on the production floor as operational needs change.
  • Openness to feedback and continuous improvement, with a proactive approach to learning and skill development.

Work Environment

This role is based on a production floor in a medical device manufacturing environment. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with weekly overtime that varies based on production needs. The position does not require full gowning for routine work, but you may occasionally assist in a cleanroom area when needed. While working on the production floor, you wear safety glasses and ESD shoes as part of standard safety and electrostatic discharge protection requirements. The work involves using microscopes and handling small components at a workstation designed for precision tasks, within a team-oriented and safety-focused setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.75 - $18.75/hr.
