Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of production machines and heavy equipment. You will disassemble and assemble components to manufacturer specifications, perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagnostics, and carry out both corrective and preventive maintenance to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer specifications using hand and power tools.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on production machines, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and general machine upkeep to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Use diagnostic laptop computers, gauges, and instruments to detect faults in all machine systems, including electronics, hydraulics, power train, engines, and overall machine performance.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical documentation, and work orders to determine required maintenance and service procedures.
  • Perform necessary maintenance and repairs based on troubleshooting results and diagnostic findings.
  • Carry out diesel engine diagnosis and repair on applicable equipment.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on equipment control systems and components.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks on schedule, documenting work performed as required.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete complex repairs and share technical knowledge.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Occasionally travel to client sites or work outdoors or in the field to perform service and repairs on equipment.
  • Use welding skills, when applicable, to support repair work on machines and components.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components of various machines.
  • Hands-on experience with diesel repair, including diesel engine diagnosis and service.
  • Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting using appropriate tools and diagnostic methods.
  • Skill in using diagnostic laptop computers, gauges, and instruments to identify equipment faults.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, service documentation, and work orders.
  • Strong preventive maintenance skills and the ability to perform routine inspections and service.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate on repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Capability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively for disassembly and assembly of components.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Welding repair experience is a plus and can support structural and component repairs.
  • Experience working on production machines or similar industrial equipment is beneficial.
  • Comfort working with power train, hydraulic, and electronic control systems.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and cross-train on different types of equipment and processes.
  • Ability to adapt to working in both shop and field environments.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in a non-climate-controlled workshop that reflects a hands-on, industrial environment. The role also involves working outdoors and occasionally traveling to client sites in the field to perform maintenance and repairs on equipment. The position requires comfort working around heavy machinery, tools, and equipment in varying temperatures and weather conditions, and the ability to follow all safety procedures in both shop and field settings

This is a Permanent position based out of Crystal City, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $56160.00/yr.
