HVAC Systems Engineer (GMP Manufacturing Environment)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Systems Engineer to support the design, operation, and continuous improvement of critical utility systems within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert for commercial and industrial HVAC infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, compliance, and energy efficiency in support of GMP manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth in HVAC systems, a reliability focused mindset, and experience working within pharmaceutical, biotech, or similarly regulated facilities.
Key Responsibilities
HVAC Systems Ownership:
• Provide engineering oversight for critical HVAC systems including air handlers, chillers, exhaust systems, and associated building automation systems
• Lead system troubleshooting, performance optimization, and long term reliability improvements
• Support system redesigns and upgrades to meet evolving production and compliance needs
GMP Compliance and Regulatory Support:
• Ensure HVAC systems operate in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, internal SOPs, and applicable environmental and safety regulations
• Support inspections, audits, and regulatory interactions by providing technical documentation and subject matter expertise
• Partner with Quality and Validation teams to support system qualification, change control, and deviation investigations
Reliability and Maintenance Engineering:
• Conduct root cause analysis for equipment and system failures
• Develop and refine preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
• Perform condition assessments to proactively identify reliability risks and recommend corrective actions
Project and Capital Support:
• Provide technical leadership for capital projects, system upgrades, and facility expansions
• Review engineering designs, commissioning plans, and vendor submittals
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure projects meet performance and compliance expectations
Cross Functional Collaboration:
• Partner closely with Facilities, Engineering, Manufacturing, Automation, and Environmental Health and Safety teams
• Support operations with timely troubleshooting, technical guidance, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required
Experience
• Experience supporting HVAC systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Previous experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or GMP regulated facility strongly preferred
Technical Skills
• Strong working knowledge of industrial HVAC systems, chillers, air handling units, and cleanroom environments
• Experience with Building Management Systems and facility monitoring platforms
• Familiarity with reliability engineering principles, preventative maintenance programs, and root cause analysis tools
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing and engineering environment and may require regular interaction with mechanical spaces, production areas, and utility equipment. The position supports operations that run continuously and may require flexible onsite support as needed.
