To serve as a professional staff employee of the Indiana State Police whose primary responsibility is the development, implementation, and delivery of the Department’s Recruit Academy Strength and Conditioning Program, and supporting the Department’s Wellness Program.
Manage the Recruit Academy Strength and Conditioning Program.
Support the development of the Employee Wellness Program.
Assist with administration of physical fitness assessments for recruits, enforcement personnel, and specialty teams.
Support wellness initiatives including fitness, nutrition, stress management, and substance awareness programs.
Assist with the Department Drug Testing Program and related compliance requirements.
Provide recommendations to improve employee health, fitness, and injury prevention outcomes.
Assist with program budgeting, planning, and resource coordination.
Plan, coordinate, and deliver the Recruit Academy Strength and Conditioning Program.
Conduct and support physical ability testing for applicants, recruits, and sworn personnel.
Assist in implementing specialty team and annual fitness assessments.
Collect, maintain, and analyze program data for performance tracking and improvement.
Provide wellness and fitness guidance to employees and recruits.
Assist in managing health-related programs including bloodborne pathogen vaccination and concussion protocols.
Support training and instruction of academy staff and personnel in fitness-related programming.
Maintain program records, medical documentation, and required reporting systems.
Stay current on applicable laws, standards, and best practices related to wellness and public safety.
Other duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field required.
Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent training and experience may be considered in lieu of Master’s degree.
Valid Indiana Driver’s License.
Relevant certification (e.g., NSCA-CSCS preferred or ability to obtain).
Ability to demonstrate and instruct strength and conditioning techniques and maintain departmental fitness standards.
Knowledge of medical guidelines, ADA, OSHA, and public safety wellness standards.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and ability to maintain confidential records.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and travel as required.
