About the role:


The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing safety policies and procedures with the support of upper management; conducting training plant wide; ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations to create a safe working environment; verifying and managing PPE inventory; working with external contractors for safety apparel control (forklifts, fire extinguishers, etc.).


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Create and maintain safety policies that comply with local/state/federal safety regulations and update as needed.
  • Perform safety audits throughout the facility to identify potential hazards and document findings and improvements when needed.
  • Schedule and conduct safety training programs for employees including new hire safety orientation and refresher courses for all employees.
  • Investigate near misses and injuries.
  • Monthly check of all fire extinguishers for compliance throughout the facility and forklifts as well.
  • Ensure eye washing stations are accessible and working.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and work with areas to develop next steps to reduce or eliminate risks.
  • Monitor and manage PPE and replenish as needed for all employees plantwide.
  • Report all non-compliant issues and injuries to upper management, i.e. report, KPI, trends, etc.
  • Stay current with safety and health regulations.


Requirements:


  • Understanding OSHA and regulatory guidelines; OSHA certification is a plus
  • 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing environments
  • Experience in safety and health regulations in manufacturing environments
  • Ability to work and communicate with employees at all levels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and authority
  • Ability to enforce rules and procedures
  • Skilled in managing internal dynamics and relationships with supervisors
  • Hands-on, practical approach
