- DURATION: 12 month contract with potential for extension or conversion
Role Overview
The Satellite Propulsion Front Line Test Engineer serves as the first line of defense for production quality in a high‑volume satellite electric propulsion manufacturing environment. This role supports live production lines by troubleshooting test failures in real time, resolving nonconformances, optimizing yield, and ensuring 100% test coverage before hardware reaches the customer.
The position bridges Design Engineering and the Production Floor, combining hands-on hardware interaction, automated test systems, and data-driven decision-making in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the on‑site engineering support for propulsion component and subsystem testing (ICT, functional, and end‑of‑line tests).
- Respond quickly to test failures and production line issues to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot test and hardware failures, identifying whether issues stem from the product or the test system (equipment, fixtures, or software).
- Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to resolution.
- Monitor test yield and performance metrics, supporting efforts to improve throughput and reduce re‑testing.
- Support the setup, validation, and launch of new test stations during New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Partner with design, manufacturing, and test teams to resolve issues and align test strategies with product requirements.
- Maintain clear documentation related to test issues, engineering changes, and operating procedures.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to production operators and leadership.
MUST HAVES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- 4-5 years of experience with a mixture of the following:
- Experience developing or maturing test and data acquisition software using Python, NI LabVIEW, or NI TestStand
- Experience operating pressurized fluid, vacuum, and/or plasma-based systems (1 year is sufficient)
- Experience investigating hardware failures or performing structured root cause analysis
- Experience using electrical test equipment such as; oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, & data acquisition systems
- Strong ability to differentiate product failures from test system or software issues
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, live manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical production operators
- Ability to prepare and present data-driven reports and recommendations to leadership
- Willingness and ability to stand for extended periods and handle physical hardware safely
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:
- Experience in a production test, manufacturing test, or front-line test engineering role
- The ideal candidate would have operational experience including hands-on testing, system maintenance, and production experience in manufacturing or test engineering roles.
- Bckgrnd in aerospace, automotive, or cleanroom manufacturing environments
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (FPY improvement, cycle time reduction)
- Experience implementing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in a production environment
- Strong written documentation skills for procedures, work instructions, and issue tracking
- Ability to perform effectively under time pressure while maintaining safety and quality standards

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75.00 - $84.85/hr.
