Classified-Exempt Position
Parks and Recreation/Watoga State ParkEmployee in this position, under the supervision of the superintendent and assistant superintendent, is responsible for the appearance, repair, and general care of the grounds throughout Watoga State Park. Employee mows grass, trims shrubbery, trims/cuts trees, and weed eats. Employee plants grass, flowers, shrubs, and trees as instructed. Employee performs necessary preventive measures for insect and vermin control and against other damaging effects. Employee assists in the selection of supplies, tools, and equipment needed to perform duties. Must be knowledgeable and be able to operate all types of mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, and other equipment including basic hand tools. Must have the knowledge to maintain and make ordinary repairs to the machinery and equipment used in daily work. Employee performs routine maintenance such as minor repairs and improvements to walkways, roads, parking lots, signs, storage buildings, and other permanent structures on the park. Employee must have knowledge of common grounds work maintenance methods such as cultivating, pruning, spraying, trimming, sodding, etc. Employee will be required to work on ladders and at tree-top heights. Employee will be able to lift and move heavy objects. Employee performs all related and non-related work as required by supervisors. Regular attendance required. Training: Must be able to pass a written test at the eighth grade level.
Experience:Six months of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in groundskeeping work.
Special Requirement: Possession of a valid driver's license may be required.
