Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description

This role supports a busy manufacturing operation by performing a variety of production tasks, including washing and sandblasting parts, pre-assembly inspection, and mechanical assembly using hand and power tools. You will follow standard operating procedures, read blueprints when required, and may perform TIG welding on aluminum and magnesium parts after passing a weld test. The position offers hands-on learning, opportunities for advancement, and consistent work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Wash and clean parts thoroughly to prepare them for further processing.
  • Operate a sandblaster safely and effectively to clean and prepare metal components.
  • Identify and verify parts accurately before assembly to ensure correct usage.
  • Inspect parts for defects, damage, or quality issues and report any nonconformities.
  • Perform mechanical assembly work using hand and power tools while following established SOPs.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, including standard operating procedures, to complete production tasks consistently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints when required to perform accurate assembly and welding tasks.
  • Perform TIG welding on aluminum and magnesium components after successfully passing a weld test, as needed by production.
  • Handle and move materials and components within the manufacturing and warehouse areas as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines and best practices.
  • Work on an assembly line supporting transmission tear-down and related production activities.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and quality standards.
  • Work overtime when required by arriving early or staying late to support production demands.
Essential Skills
  • At least 6 months of production or assembly experience.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use hand and power tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Capability to operate a sandblaster or willingness to learn and perform sandblasting tasks.
  • Basic understanding of production or assembly workflows in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints when required for assembly or welding tasks.
  • Willingness and ability to perform TIG welding on aluminum and magnesium after passing a weld test, if assigned to welding duties.
  • Strong attention to detail for identifying and inspecting parts for quality.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and work instructions accurately.
  • Reliability in attendance and punctuality to support consistent production schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous TIG welding experience, especially on aluminum and magnesium, is beneficial.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is an advantage.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced assembly line setting.
  • Willingness to learn multiple roles within the shop, including washing, sandblasting, pre-assembly, and assembly.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support different areas of production as needed.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with coworkers.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility that includes an assembly line focused on transmission tear-downs and a warehouse area for receiving and shipping products. The environment is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. You will work around production equipment, hand and power tools, sandblasting equipment, and welding stations. Standard hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime occasionally required by starting an hour early or staying an hour late depending on production needs.

This is a Contract position based out of Algona, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
