As a technical lead working directly under the Building Maintenance Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to hone your leadership experience, learn new skills, help maintain a state-of-the-art facility and grounds, and be part of exciting projects and initiatives at the museum.
Perform maintenance and repair of buildings, machinery and electrical and mechanical equipment; coordinate maintenance activities, including personnel, materials and equipment to complete assigned maintenance/site projects and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.Job descriptions are intended to present a general list of tasks/duties performed by employees within this job classification. - Establish and maintain a comprehensive maintenance program for all types of City equipment and machinery.
- Operate a variety of maintenance equipment and tools including, but not limited to, aerial tower, auto crane, water truck and compressor driven tools.
- Coordinate activities, personnel, material and equipment necessary to complete assigned maintenance/site projects; coordinate activities and assist workers engaged in keeping the construction/work site in a clean and orderly condition.
- Maintain drinking water systems which may include ground water wells, pumps, chlorination treatment systems, and all associated mechanical and electrical systems.
- Apply for and maintain current status of all applicable permits and licenses.
- Maintain and repair facility equipment including risers, table racks, chair racks, tables, chairs and room dividers; perform rough and finished carpentry.
- Transport supplies or materials to work site or assigned facility complex.
- Construct, maintain and repair metal portions of equipment and machinery using appropriate welding techniques.
- Perform minor repairs to fork lifts, Bobcat tractors, gas powered utility vehicles and/or other similar types of light equipment and vehicles.
- Advise assigned maintenance supervisor on budgetary requirements related to repair and maintenance of assigned section.
- Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:- Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
- Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in construction technology; and
Four (4) years of general construction or facility maintenance experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days from date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within 6 months from hire date.
Environmental:Field and construction site environment; exposure to noise, dust, fumes and gases; inclement weather conditions; may travel site to site.
Physical:Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing and walking for prolonged periods of time; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; operation of motorized vehicle and equipment.
