Job Title: Construction General Laborer

Job Description

This role supports a construction crew with earthmoving, land clearing, and site preparation activities. You will use hand and power tools, follow instructions from supervisors and equipment operators, and contribute to safe, efficient operations on a large construction site.

Responsibilities

• Perform earthmoving and clearing tasks to support site preparation activities.
• Assist with grading, land clearing, and general dirt work as directed.
• Operate and handle hand and power tools, including shovels and other basic construction tools, in a safe and efficient manner.
• Follow instructions from crew leads and heavy equipment operators to support daily project goals.
• Work closely with team members to complete tasks on schedule and maintain a productive worksite.
• Support utility construction, concrete work, pipe laying, and related tasks as needed, depending on project requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
• Adhere to all site safety rules and procedures while working on a large, active construction campus.

Essential Skills

• Previous construction labor experience, ideally in site preparation, grading, or land clearing.
• Hands-on experience with general construction tasks and dirt work.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, including shovels and other basic construction equipment.
• Ability to follow directions accurately and consistently.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a crew and collaborate with heavy equipment operators.
• Comfort working outdoors in a large, active construction environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in utility construction is a plus.
• Exposure to or understanding of blueprint reading is beneficial.
• Knowledge of concrete work, pipe laying, or heavy equipment support is an advantage.
• Experience with earthworks and land clearing on larger sites is helpful.

Work Environment

You will work on a large, active construction campus at a data center site, supporting land clearing and site preparation projects. The environment is primarily outdoors, so you must feel comfortable working in varying weather conditions and across a massive, fast-paced site. The role involves frequent use of hand and power tools and close coordination with heavy equipment operations. Standard construction attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety on site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sandston, VA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Sandston,VA.
