Job Title: General Laborer
Job Description

The General Laborer supports daily yard and warehouse operations by sorting products, placing materials in designated bins, and maintaining a clean, safe work area. This role involves regular use of hand tools and power tools, as well as operating forklifts after appropriate training. Previous general labor experience is preferred but not required, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and grow in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Sort products and materials in the yard and place them into the appropriate bins according to established procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by sweeping, removing debris, and following housekeeping standards.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to support daily operations and material handling tasks.
  • Assist with general labor tasks both indoors and outdoors, including lifting, moving, and staging materials as directed.
  • Operate forklifts to move, load, and unload materials once properly trained and certified, including sit-down forklifts for indoor and outdoor use.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and operational procedures when using tools, equipment, and forklifts.
  • Work closely with team members and supervisors to complete assigned tasks efficiently and on schedule.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and work assignments in a fast-paced yard and warehouse environment.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to perform general labor tasks in an industrial yard and warehouse setting.
  • Capability and willingness to operate forklifts after training, including sit-down forklifts for indoor and outdoor use.
  • Basic experience or strong aptitude in using hand tools safely.
  • Basic experience or strong aptitude in using power tools safely.
  • Willingness to work outdoors daily and indoors in conditions similar to the outdoor temperature.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials throughout the shift.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous outdoor general labor experience is preferred.
  • Prior forklift operation experience is an asset.
  • Forklift certification is a plus and may support quicker onboarding to equipment operation.
  • Experience working in industrial, yard, or warehouse environments is beneficial.
  • Comfort working in environments that may be dirty and exposed to varying weather conditions.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frederick, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
