Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

The General Laborer supports concrete production and yard operations by assisting with forming, pouring, finishing, and curing processes, handling materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. This role involves extensive forklift operation, staging materials for pick-ups and deliveries, and performing a variety of physically demanding tasks both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with concrete production, including forming, pouring, finishing, and curing materials according to established procedures.
  • Load, unload, and move raw materials, tools, and finished products throughout the facility and yard.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently in the facility and yard for approximately 85% of the workday.
  • Stage the yard for pick-ups and deliveries by organizing and positioning materials for efficient access.
  • Use basic hand tools and power tools as needed, with training provided where required.
  • Perform general site and plant cleanup to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Support skilled tradespeople and equipment operators by providing labor assistance as directed by supervisors.
  • Handle material packaging, packing, loading, and picking tasks to support production and shipping activities.
  • Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and quality standards at all times.
  • Continuously look for tasks to complete, such as cleaning or assisting in other areas, to support overall operations.
  • Perform other general labor and production duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and communicate proactively regarding work schedules and overtime expectations.

Essential Skills

  • Approximately 1 year of experience in construction or a physically demanding job.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Experience with general labor and production work in an industrial or construction-related environment.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools with proper safety practices.
  • Capability to perform material handling tasks, including loading, unloading, and moving materials.
  • Ability to navigate and read a straight ruler for basic measurements.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs multiple times per shift and perform repetitive, physically demanding tasks.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside in the heat of the summer and in a dirty, heavy-duty work environment.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Strong attendance and reliability, with readiness to work mandatory overtime as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous forklift experience in a yard or production setting is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with packaging, packing, loading, and picking in a production or warehouse environment.
  • Comfort working with concrete, construction materials, and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing production demands, including extended workdays and seasonal workload fluctuations.
  • Willingness to wear recommended safety equipment, such as a dust mask provided on-site.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a readiness to stay busy by helping in various areas as needed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
