Frozen Food Supervisor Position Summary
The Frozen Food Manager oversees daily operations of the frozen food department to ensure high standards of product quality, inventory accuracy, merchandising, and customer service. This role is responsible for maintaining in‑stock conditions, controlling shrink, and ensuring compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Maintain a service‑focused department that delivers fast, friendly, and helpful customer assistance
- Assist customers with product inquiries and recommendations
- Address customer concerns and escalate issues to store leadership as needed
Department Operations
- Manage day‑to‑day frozen food department operations, including stocking, rotation, and presentation
- Ensure department cleanliness, organization, and safe working conditions
- Maintain proper freezer conditions and ensure equipment is operating correctly
Inventory & Ordering
- Control inventory levels to maintain adequate product quantity, freshness, and variety
- Order frozen food products according to division directives and sales trends
- Maintain orderly backroom and sales floor conditions
- Assist with physical inventory as scheduled
Merchandising & Pricing
- Build and maintain frozen food displays, including promotional and seasonal features
- Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and product presentation
- Rotate product and remove outdated or damaged items
Shrink, Safety & Compliance
- Control shrink and cost through proper handling, rotation, and inventory practices
- Ensure proper temperature control at all times
- Enforce code dating, labeling, and food safety requirements
- Comply with all workplace safety rules and sanitation standards
Receiving & Administrative Duties
- Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, and stocking product
- Accurately complete daily logs, sales, labor, and other required department paperwork
- Maintain accurate department records in compliance with company guidelines
Operational Support
- Implement emergency procedures during equipment or system malfunctions
- Operate electronic ordering systems and related equipment
- Comply with company grooming, dress code, and conduct standards
- Perform other duties as required to support grocery department operations
Qualifications
Required
- Previous grocery or retail experience
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work extended periods in freezer and refrigerated environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks
Preferred
- Experience in frozen food, dairy, or grocery department operations
- Familiarity with inventory control systems and ordering processes
Work Schedule & Environment
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Works in temperature‑controlled environments with frequent exposure to freezer conditions
