Job Title: FPGA Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced FPGA / Embedded Systems Engineer with 10–15 years of hands-on experience and strong expertise in AMD Xilinx Zynq SoC platforms and PetaLinux. In this role, you will work across FPGA fabric and ARM processing systems to deliver tightly integrated hardware–software solutions for embedded products. You will focus on FPGA design, embedded Linux bring-up, and system integration while collaborating closely with hardware and software teams to build robust, production-ready platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and verify FPGA solutions on AMD Xilinx Zynq and Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC platforms.
  • Develop and integrate RTL using SystemVerilog and VHDL for complex FPGA-based embedded systems.
  • Perform embedded Linux bring-up on Zynq SoC platforms, including PetaLinux-based systems.
  • Customize and integrate board support packages (BSPs) and develop low-level drivers for embedded platforms.
  • Execute system integration activities, ensuring seamless interaction between FPGA fabric, ARM processing systems, and surrounding hardware.
  • Use Vivado and related Xilinx tools to implement, synthesize, and debug FPGA designs.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and software teams to define requirements, resolve integration issues, and deliver production-ready embedded platforms.
  • Implement and optimize high-speed or real-time embedded systems to meet performance, latency, and reliability requirements.
  • Develop Python and TCL scripts to automate build, test, and integration workflows.
  • Contribute to the full product development lifecycle by working directly with the customer’s engineering team from concept through deployment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues at the hardware, FPGA, and software interface levels during bring-up and validation.

Essential Skills

  • 10–15 years of experience as an FPGA and Embedded Systems Engineer.
  • Strong expertise with AMD Xilinx Zynq SoC platforms, including Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC.
  • Proven experience with PetaLinux and embedded Linux bring-up on SoC platforms.
  • Hands-on FPGA design experience, including RTL development and verification.
  • Proficiency with Vivado and related Xilinx development toolchains.
  • Strong knowledge of SystemVerilog and VHDL for FPGA and digital design.
  • Demonstrated experience in system integration across FPGA fabric and ARM processing systems.
  • Experience in driver development or BSP customization for embedded platforms.
  • Experience with working on high-speed or real-time embedded systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Yocto beyond PetaLinux foundations for building and customizing embedded Linux distributions.
  • Experience with Python scripting for build, test, or integration automation.
  • Experience with TCL scripting to automate FPGA tool flows and build processes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional hardware and software teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex hardware–software interactions.
  • Interest in working on a variety of products and projects and seeing the full development process from start to finish.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite role based at the client site in Fremont, working on location five days per week. You will sit directly with the customer’s engineering team and collaborate closely with them on the development of their products, providing a clear view of the full lifecycle from initial concept through deployment. The environment offers exposure to multiple embedded and FPGA-based projects, allowing you to work with modern Xilinx tools such as Vivado, PetaLinux, and Yocto, as well as scripting with Python and TCL for automation. The setting is a professional engineering workplace focused on hands-on development, integration, and testing of advanced embedded systems.
