Job Title: Forklift OperatorJob Description

As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for efficiently pulling orders for shipment to customers and managing various shipping functions. You will move parts from the Market Area to Assembly Lines, supply presses with containers, and ensure the safe and correct transportation of goods.

Responsibilities
  • Pull orders for efficient shipment to customers.
  • Manage Direct Ship Ports, Truck Load Reports, and other shipping functions as trained and required.
  • Move parts from Market Area to Assembly Lines and from lines to Finished Goods.
  • Supply Presses with containers and move stampings to Market Area.
  • Move trailers with switcher truck as needed.
  • Observe and follow company rules and regulations, maintaining a satisfactory work area through the implementation of 5S.
  • Follow all safety checks for towmotor startup daily and engage dock locks before entering trailers.
  • Inspect racks for damage during unloading and cleaning, ensuring no parts are protruding above racks before moving them.
  • Ensure bar code labels are in good condition for scanning and reading.
  • Pull parts from stock in FIFO order for all shipment staging.
  • Maintain proper flow of press and Small Parts Kanban, supporting company goals and objectives.
  • Report production when picking up and setting down racks.
  • Lead by example in attendance, quality, and accountability.
Essential Skills
  • Forklift experience including sit-down forklift and tow motor experience.
  • 3-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs without mechanical assistance.
  • Good basic math knowledge.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and coordination skills.
  • Must successfully complete tow motor training and certification prior to job move.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Night shift availability from 3:00pm - 1:45am, with normal shift time extending to 5:00pm - 4:30am.

Work Environment

Work in an automotive manufacturing environment featuring over 50 automated welding robot cells and 8 stamping presses. Employees can expect to work around sparks and smoke from the robotic welders.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.85/hr.
